Third Friday Art Walk: Opening & Reception For The Space Between by Michelle Renee

Argenta Library

This exhibit is FREE to the public and will be on display during library hours Monday--Friday 9 am-6 pm, starting Friday, September 20, 2024, through Friday, October 11, 2024.

Michelle Renée's "The Space Between"

A few months ago, my friend came over with her 18-year-old son who is about to venture out into the world on his own, and he asked me how I knew that I wanted to be an Artist - that I could be an Artist. I told him, “When the words in my heart were louder than the words in my head,” I knew. I also knew that the space between my heart and my head filled with all the emotions (good and bad) was necessary to get me to that place of knowing that I could be an Artist. The pieces I painted for this show have white spaces to represent all of the emotional experiences that I had/have to go through to get to listening to my heart. I didn't want to just fill up every inch of the canvas. I wanted to remember that fear and joy equally got me where I am today as a self-taught Artist. The space between my heart and head sometimes looks like self-doubt, but it has always looked like love.

Arist Bio

Michelle Renée is an abstract painter and a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. Michelle is proud of the fact she is a self-taught artist because she gets to experiment with textures and colors and has no rules or boundaries. She has been painting for over 20 years and full-time since 2018. In her spare time, Michelle paints with kiddos who are often times facing challenges and adversities as she feels like she has much to offer in ways of patience, kindness, and compassion in a safe and playful environment. Michelle's art is in over 15 states and in many homes and businesses all over Arkansas. Permanent works are at the U.A.M.S Breast Cancer Center and The Better Businesses Bureau.

Promises - Women’s Conference

1680 Sparksford Dr, Russellville, AR

"The women who proclaim the good news are a great host army." (Psalm 68:11)

God's promises never fail and we are here to proclaim who He is and what those promises are. The last few years we've come together as women of Christ in unity to declare what it means to build on the rock and be ready for the flood waters when they rise. We've encouraged one another to allow the fire of God to burn off every label that isn't part of our identity as we declared that He is an all consuming fire. We've declared that His Holy Spirit moves and flows in the four winds bringing provision, peace, deliverance, and destruction to the enemy. This year we come together in unity to proclaim His promises are true and we ready ourselves to step into our inheritance. After spending the last few years taking off and laying down, this year we pick up what He's wanting to put into our hands.

So many of us today live our lives by the box. The boxes that fill the calendars we keep. Living by the box based on a solar calendar was not always the way it was. Cherokees and many other American Indian tribes for example lived by a lunar calendar. They used the moon and nature to tell them the things that needed to be done at certain times. Join a park interpreter in the grassy area across from the visitor center and discover lunar living.
