Join Park Interpreter Mystina for a carpool road trip down Shepherd Springs Road to bird from the road. This area is wooded and a great place to look for birds, especially during fall migration. Bring your binoculars and field guides if you have them. Binoculars are provided if needed. For the program meeting location, turn right from the park entrance sign and follow Shepherd Springs Road until you see the white park van parked on the side of the road. (Notice: Shepherd Springs Road does transition into a dirt/gravel road).

Village Creek State Park will be hosting a Fishing Derby through the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Kids ages up to 15 years are invited to participate in this free family-friendly fishing event. Prizes will be awarded for different categories at the end of the event. Parking is available at the Golf Maintenance Entrance (near the tennis courts). Participants will walk to the pond on the golf course. Fishing poles are limited, but available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis at the visitor center. Bring your own fishing poles, bait, lawn chairs, weather-appropriate supplies, snacks, and water.

Join us as we learn about Village Creek State Park's history, listen to the stories behind the name of Ben, and acknowledge the power your actions have at our park. Our hike will last about 45 minutes. The Big Ben Trail is a 0.5-mile moderately strenuous trail. Make sure you wear appropriate shoes, bring water, and wear insect repellant. This is a free family-friendly event that requires no registration. If there is inclement weather during the time of this program, the alternative location will be inside the visitor center in our Theater Room.
