Maumelle Community Night

Dickey Stephens Ball Park

Maumelle Police Officer Sgt. Michael Murphy is married and has 3 children (ages 10, 7, and 2). Sgt. Murphy was diagnosed with ALS 3 days after his 37th birthday which caused him to medically retire from the Maumelle Police Department without enough years in service for retirement funds.

Sgt. Murphy made the switch to the Maumelle Police Department in March 2019. During his time at MPD he was a certified hostage negotiator, Field Training Officer, SWAT certified - serving on the Special Response Team, and a detective. Sgt. Murphy was issued lifesaving awards in December 2019 and in September 2020.

He promoted to Sergeant in January of 2023, which he says was just the start of his career aspirations before he was diagnosed. He genuinely enjoys helping people and is an active member in his church and community. Now it’s our turn to help him.

The Maumelle FOP is working to help this family. All funds raised from the Maumelle Community Night will go to the family account set up for him.

Jewels Of Giving Celebration

Heroncrest
Elm Springs

The Jewels of Giving Celebration is our largest, annual fundraising event to help raise awareness of food insecurity in Northwest Arkansas. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank. You can anticipate a fun, summer-business casual evening filled with great food and drinks, entertaining music, and a live auction with items for everyone.

For far too many of our friends and neighbors, food insecurity is a very real state. This means having to choose between paying bills for food or heat or medications or rent, because there is just not enough income to pay for all of these needs. At the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, we want to take food out of this painful equation, because we believe that no one should go hungry in our community. For more than 30 years we have been there to help those in need. The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank works closely with our network of more than 110 agency partners to turn your generous gifts into much needed meals for those who might otherwise be hungry in our 4 county region of Benton, Washington, Carroll and Madison counties.

Stoby's Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser for Greg & Day Burns

Stoby's Russellville
405 W Parkway Dr. Russellville

Greg and Day Burns of Russellville were visiting St. Louis on May 5 when a drunk driver going excessive speeds struck the truck they were passengers in, causing it to flip multiple times. Both Greg and Day sustained serious spinal cord injuries and are facing mounting expenses not covered by insurance.

The Runnersville Ladies Training Camp, which is part of the RussVegas Foot Races Foundation, is holding a Stoby's Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser to benefit the Burns on Sunday, August 27 from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. Ticket price for this all-you-can-eat meal of pancakes, sausage, soft drinks, coffee, and juice is just a $5 donation. Any tips or additional donations collected will also go to the Burns. We will have tickets available for advanced purchase, or you can get your ticket at the door the day of the event.

Day is one of our volunteer coaches... part of the Runnersville family and our ray of sunshine. Greg and Day are an incredible couple who serve as an example of how to stand together in faith when facing adversity.

Day shared, "There are many purchases that must be made for Greg’s care. We need to buy a wheelchair accessible van to transport him home after he is discharged from Shirley Ryan [a rehabilitation center in Chicago that specializes in spinal cord injuries] and to get him to and from his outpatient therapy and medical visits after we return to Arkansas. He will require a powerchair for mobility. He will need a special type of hospital bed that will help heal his pressure wound that we’ve been told will still be there when we are discharged (although I’m praying for a miracle that it is healed by that time and we can cancel the need for this bed!). There will be home modifications that must be made to make our living space hospitable for Greg. There will be purchases of wheelchair ramps, harnesses, and a hoist lift to get Greg in and out of bed until he gains enough strength to transfer himself. We need to buy him medical supplies and medicine for daily care. There will be home health care visits and outpatient therapy sessions above and beyond what insurance will cover. In fact, insurance does not cover most of these needs at all or will only cover a small percentage."

Greg and Day's lives were turned upside down in an instant. It could happen to any of us. You can help Greg and Day by joining us for pancakes on August 27. Runnersville looks forward to serving you!

If you are interested in purchasing tickets in advance, please email runnersvilleladies@gmail.com.

If you cannot join us for the pancake fundraiser but would like to make a donation to Greg and Day, you can do so at https://www.givesendgo.com/BurnsFamily. (100% of the donation you make on this site will go to the Burns; there are no administrative fees.)

The Plum Bayou Mounds site is one of the largest and most impressive archeological sites in the Lower Mississippi River Valley. Occupied by American Indians from about 650 to 1050 AD, this site is home to a group of ancient earthworks that once made up a large ceremonial site. Aboard a motorized tram, visitors will join a park interpreter for a guided tour of the 3/4-mile Knapp Trail and learn more about these structures and the people who built them.
