The Searcy County Historical Society usually meets the fourth Friday of the month, but this month, June, it will meet the last Friday, June 30, in the First Christian Church at 7:00 pm.
James Johnston will talk about books that have Searcy County history, geology and genealogy, starting with the 1858 Geological Reconnoissance of North Arkansas and Mollie Williams’ biography first published in 1902 and several books by various authors until the present. He will indicate which are still available and how to find them.

The annual free public 4th of July fireworks display on Lake Hamilton will be held Sunday, July 2nd, at 9:00pm.
The fireworks will be synched with music on radio station 97.5 FM US97 Country when fans watch the display. In case of rain, the fireworks will be rescheduled for Monday, July 3rd.
The fireworks will be shot from the middle of Lake Hamilton from barges located on the east side of Highway 7 at the first Highway 7 bridge opposite the DoubleTree Hot Springs.
The Independence Day fireworks will be the second of three fireworks displays Visit Hot Springs will sponsor this year.
