THE MUSIC MAKER REVUE BLUES FEST

The Music Maker Blues Revue is an all-star band and a thriving musical institution. It was born in the early 1990s as a backing band for Guitar Gabriel, and quickly became a power cell of Music Maker Foundation’s live presence. Featuring dozens of different Music Maker artists over the years—from Etta Baker and Macavine Hayes to Robert Lee Coleman and Pat “Mother Blues” Cohen—the Revue has played all over the world in every kind of venue. They’ve busked on the sidewalks of High Point, NC, and received standing ovations at Carnegie Hall. From Argentina to Australia, Europe to Guatemala, and across the U.S., the Revue pleases all types of fans; “the boogiers and the bookworms,” as drummer Ardie Dean puts it.

Aretta Woodruff:
Aretta has been singing and performing since the age of 7; beginning in her family church. She has opened and performed with several names such as Denise LaSalle, The Love Doctor, Jeffery Osborne, Floyd Taylor, the late Bobby Blue Bland, Bobby Rush and a host of others. Aretta has performed at several major festivals including Birmingham’s City Stages as well as concerts and charitable events. Some of her influences are Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle and Yolanda Adams. The silky and smooth sounds of Ms. Aretta have dazzled audiences all over the southeast U.S. for about 20 years.

The 19th Annual War Eagle Appreciation Day will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, and will feature free, family-friendly activities at the Withrow Springs State Park’s Keith Ham Pavilion, Huntsville, AR. Activities will feature local organizations with educational and interactive activities focused on water, wildlife, history, tourism, and more. Weichert Real Estate will grill free lunch, and music sponsored by the William Rufus Stephens Jr. Memorial Fund will include a live performance by The Plaid Magpies. The event will start at 11 am and wrap up at 1 pm. Attend for the chance to win fun door prizes!

June 3rd is also National Trails Day, and to celebrate, a guided nature hike will be offered as part of the event starting at 10:30 am, led by a Withrow Springs Interpretation Ranger. The hike will leave from the Keith Ham Pavilion and will consist of a 1.5-mile loop on the War Eagle Trail. The hike will have little elevation change, is rated as easy difficulty, and will take 45 mins to an hour to complete.

War Eagle Creek is a tributary to Beaver Lake, our region’s source water supply. The War Eagle watershed is responsible for 1/3rd of all water entering Beaver Lake, the source of drinking water for one in five Arkansans, making it an essential area to appreciate, keep clean, and steward.
