In this 2-hour class you will learn how to make tinctures using dried herbs and fresh herbs and you will also make a glycerite.

Herbal tinctures are a concentrated form of herbs made by soaking the appropriate bark, berries, leaves, roots or other plant material in alcohol or vinegar to extract and the essence.

A glycerite is a moistening extract made by steeping herbs in glycerin. Glycerites are used for dryness and irritation.

Explore the amazing world of herbs! In this class, you will be making a tincture, an herbal salve, an herbal roll-on, and more. Weather permitting, we will walk around the beautiful Heritage Herb Gardens and explore useful and medicinal plants. Preregistration required. This class is for students ages 16 and up. Meet a park interpreter to set off on a leisurely hike along some of the most scenic and overlooked areas in Petit Jean State Park. This section of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Boy Scout Trail follows the bluff line above the lower canyon of Cedar Creek. Dress for the weather, bring water along, and enjoy the hike. Distance is approximately 2.5 miles, covering rolling terrain, moderate in difficulty.

Stroll into some intriguing history of early settlers on what is now Mount Magazine State Park. Guests will also see some of Arkansas’ most scenic landscapes from beautiful Cameron’s Bluff. This hike includes mostly paved surfaces, some uneven terrain, and rock steps. Seasonally appropriate attire, drinking water, sturdy hiking shoes, insect repellent, and sunscreen (although this hike is very shaded), are all highly recommended for this easy hike.

Caution- This hike features high cliffs, some with no railing, so children and pets must be highly supervised by legal guardians at all times.
