The Story Behind "Ozark Mountain Soul"
In 2017, Opal Agafia coined the term Ozark Mountain Soul to describe her unique style of music. Agafia embodies the sound of the Ozark Mountains: a little soul, a little roots, a little rock-and-rock, a little old-time swing- and lot of heart. Drawing from many genres, Opal blends the best elements of soul, blues, country, jazz, gospel, swing, and traditional mountain music into a sound that captures the past and boldy pushes ahead.
This year, Ozark Mountain Soul will deliver a variety of genres, while placing its main focus on Americana-Roots music.

Shelter Slumber Pawty
606 Willow St, Benton
Benton Animal Services is a no-kill shelter located in Benton, Arkansas. Currently, we are able to provide shelter for 45 dogs and 30 cats. On average, we take in around 1,000 animals a year and have a survival rate over 90% (2023). With funds raised, we are looking forward to beginning construction on a new shelter this summer! In the new shelter, we will be able to accommodate up to 100 dogs and 100 cats. We are also looking forward to providing onsite vet care to assist the community.
For our first Slumber Pawty, we are planning a funfilled day spoiling some great pets with lots of love, treats, walking, etc., raising funds for our shelter (construction starting this summer on the new Benton Animal Services), and finding furever homes for our pets. We are planning to have a mobile dog groomer on site, a bandana decorating station, microchipping, and adoptions. All activities will be sponsored for the community, all we ask for is a donation to help us reach our fundraising goal of $10,000. In addition, we will have door prizes given away every 30 minutes between 12-5pm!
After a day of activities, you can take a dog home and continue to spoil them with a slumber pawty! We encourage everyone to participate in the daytime activities and/or the overnight pawty.
If you would like to participate and help us reach, or exceed, our $10,000 fundraising goal please sign up! If you have any questions, please contact Mallori at 501-776-5972.
