November Sandwiching in History: Museum of Automobiles
Drive up to scenic Petit Jean Mountain and meet us at the Museum of Automobiles for a tour of this historic museum. There's more to see than just cars!
The Museum of Automobiles opened in 1964 for future governor Winthrop Rockefeller to display his personal car collection. Today it boasts antique and rare vehicles, including the only two Arkansas-made Climber cars still in existence. But visitors should not overlook the architecture. To create an open space for display without the need of interior support columns, the Little Rock architecture firm of Ginocchio, Cromwell, Carter, Dees, & Neyland suspended the roof using a tensile cable system hung from four corner columns connected by cast-concrete beams that form a compression ring at the outer perimeter. The result was a dramatically styled modern structure. As an early and important example of tensile-cable construction in Arkansas, the building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places with statewide significance in 2019.

Live Music: Steve Zimmerman
102 South Crestliner Street, Morrilton, AR
From Steve himself: "I like to think I'm a modern-day Waylon Jennings... not because I'm any good, but because no one wants to see my face, either. I also like to say I was Elvis, after Elvis was cool. Whatever it is, I'm a little off, as they say... and that does come out at my gigs. I'm just as likely to stop in the middle of a song to talk to a crowd member, or to lead a sing-a-long. I figure music may as well be entertaining, so I try to do a bit of both.
I love classic rock and the blues... my wife is always after me to "do more country"... so I do some of that too. But if you're wanting to hear that "pop" country, best keep right on moving. But if you decide you want to hear someone butcher "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" by Journey, I'm your guy... but be warned: if the whole crowd doesn't sing along at the end, I'll get up and leave, just so you know."

Exhibition on Screen Presents, “Young Picasso”
100 River Market Ave, Little Rock, AR
About the Film:
Pablo Picasso is one of the most famous names in art history, his image and his art are everywhere, yet few know the remarkable story of his rise to greatness. Young Picasso takes an in-depth look at the journey of Picasso’s life and traces his path to genius.
Directed by Phil Grabsky (The Boy who Plays on the Buddhas of Bamiyan, In Search of Beethoven, I, Claude Monet) this extraordinary detective story looks in detail at the elements that drove one small boy from southern Spain to such heights. Three cities play a key role: Málaga, Barcelona and Paris. Young Picasso explores each and illustrates why they were so significant.
In close collaboration with five major European museums - Museo Picasso Málaga, Fundación Picasso-Museo Casa Natal, Málaga, where he was born; Museu Picasso de Barcelona, where the most extensive collection of his early works is held; Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, Barcelona and the Musée national Picasso-Paris, in the city Picasso called home - Young Picasso offers unique insight into the artist’s masterpieces at each of these remarkable institutions as well as additional insight from historians, curators, letters from friends and lovers, and Picasso’s grandson Olivier Widmaier Picasso.
This carefully crafted documentary, filmed over two years, includes two critical periods in Picasso’s life - the Blue and Pink Periods - but does not overlook the years before those which are, though much less well-known, absolutely formative. The film culminates in New York, at the Museum of Modern Art where one of Picasso’s works has been on permanent display since the 1930s: Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.
Painted by Picasso when he was just 25 years old, the painting is now considered ground-breaking yet at the time it was scorned and rejected.
Malén Gual, Senior Curator at Museu Picasso de Barcelona comments: “This film brilliantly shows what a solid artistic training Picasso had and what remarkable paintings he produced from an early age. I have worked for decades on Picasso and I was so impressed and excited by seeing his works – and the whole thrilling story – revealed on the big screen”.
Important Information:
Film Start Time: Doors open at 3:00pm, and Exhibition on Screen's "Young Picasso" will begin promptly at 4:00pm. As our films are general admission seating, please be sure to arrive early to secure your seat. Beer, wine, and concessions will be available.

Simply bring your parking ticket from the library parking lot (across from the Main Library on Rock Street) or the parking deck (next to the Main Library on Rock Street) inside the theater, and our friendly box office staff will validate it for you. Bluegrass Brunch - Benefitting Dunbar Garden - Sunday, November 3, 2024
1800 S Chester St, Little Rock, AR
Join us for our annual brunch fundraiser on November 3, 2024! 11am-2pm.
$35 tickets include brunch, beverages and bluegrass by the Busted Clays! Brunch consists of bacon, eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy! There will be vegetarian options available. We will also have mimosas, local brews, juices and coffee! Kids tickets $15.
The Busted Clays will be keeping our feet tapping! They might even stir up some dancing! (We love dancing, it's approved at this brunch!)
In addition to good food and good music, there's gonna be a little thing called a wine pull! More details coming real soon, but we wanted to get your attention!
Save the date, pre-purchase the ticket online so know who all's coming and bring a little cash ($20) for the wine pull! It's almost Halloween & we have a fun family project day planned for all our friends! Join us on Sunday, October 27th in the Good Day party room from 1PM - 5PM for our first Family Boo Bash!
This is a come & go event but we recommend you plan to hang out & paint for about 1-1.5 hours. We have a fun selection of Halloween themed figurines to paint, as well as several spooky handprint projects you can choose from! Pieces & prices will vary.
Ms Cat can't wait to see your costumes! We'll have candy & treats for everyone stopping by, along with additional refreshments for everyone staying to paint.
The front studio will remain open for walk-in painting while we hang & paint in the party room for Boo Bash.
Seats are limited for this event, so there is a limit of 1 non-painting adult accompanying each child, no unattended painters under age 13.
Please RSVP! Can't wait to see you there!

You’ve seen the leaves falling, but have you seen the leaves fall? Join certified Forest Therapy Guide Jennifer for a relaxing journey through our woodland garden. This is a 2.5 to 3-hour guided and interactive forest meditation experience that is designed to help participants connect with themselves and the elements of nature surrounding us.
Based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku, forest therapy, or sometimes called ‘forest bathing’ is immersing yourself in a forested environment to receive the mental and physical health benefits provided by the natural environment. Lowered stress, a boost to your immunity, and deepening your creativity are just a few of the many things you can experience while connecting with nature through this forest therapy session. The session will include a slow-paced, mindful walk geared for adults with any mobility level.
$40 Non-Members | $30 GWG Members | Garden admission required, not included in program fee.
