Mount Nebo State Park is proud to participate in the 2024 Great Arkansas Cleanup! This is a come-and-go event, so feel free to stop by the campground at any time during the morning.
Supplies will be provided courtesy of Keep Arkansas Beautiful, but remember to dress appropriately and bring water and/or a snack.
Our focus will be on micro-litter around the campground and overlooks, as well as broken pieces of glass and ceramic along the trails and in the area where the Summit Park Hotel once stood.

Foodstock 2024 River Valley Food 4 Kids

The annual River Valley Food 4 Kids Foodstock Festival will be held on Saturday, October 5th from 5 PM-9 PM at Russellville Depot Park.
Our 10th Anniversary celebration will kick off with a 5K hosted by River Valley Runners at 8 AM. Entertainment starts at 5 PM featuring The Elderly Brothers and Hawk as our headlining band. River Valley Food 4 Kids Board Member Drew Brent will act as emcee for the event.
As River Valley Food 4 Kids celebrates 10 years of service to kids in the Arkansas River Valley, we also celebrate our partner organizations that have supported us. Foodstock 2024 will feature family-friendly games and activities from local nonprofits, community service organizations, and program partners in our micropolitan.
The event is FREE TO THE PUBLIC, with all proceeds going to the River Valley Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, which provides weekly supplemental nutrition to 1,250 children in Pope County school districts throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.

River Valley Food 4 Kids is a community-driven 501 (C) 3 nonprofit organization that offers nutritional assistance to children experiencing food insecurity. Since 2014, River Valley Food 4 Kids has provided over 2.8 million meals to children in the Arkansas River Valley.

Backpacking 101

Join a park interpreter as we learn the ins and outs of backpacking and long-distance hiking. This workshop will cover topics such as how to plan a route, proper outdoor ethics to follow, what to pack (and what not to!), how to properly distribute weight in a backpack, water purification and food prep methods, sleep systems, footwear, the pros and cons to various gear, and more. If you bring your own pack and equipment, we can help you get properly packed, and after the workshop you will have the option to take a small hike with your pack from the visitor center to the of the Ouachita Trail, a backpacking trail that starts at Pinnacle Mountain State Park and ends in Talihina, Oklahoma! Pre-registration is required by October 4th for this program, please contact the visitor center at (501) 868-5806 to get signed up! This workshop is best suited for ages 12 and up.

Bring your dogs to the pool for an afternoon of fun for the whole family! Friends of the Animal Village's Annual Doggie Paddle Day event will take place at the Jim Dailey Fitness Center (300 S. Monroe St.).
This is the only day of the year that dogs will be allowed to swim and play in the two outdoor pools at War Memorial! Lots of dogs have had their first swim at Doggie Paddle Day!
The entry fee is $10 per dog and all breeds are welcome. You can pay with cash or card at the door.
There must be one human adult per dog. All proceeds from this event go to the Little Rock Animal Village.
