This is just one of nine workshops and lectures held in conjunction with the Arkansas Cherry Blossom Festival on March 3, 2024 at the Hot Springs Convention Center beginning at 12:30 pm. The festival will also include cultural demonstrations, exhibits, and musical performances including taiko drums, dance, a variety of traditional Japanese carnival games as well as an anime cosplay contest is planned. Prizes for the Third Annual Arkansas Cherry Blossom Festival Haiku competition will be awarded with winners invited to read their haiku at the event.
A sumo exhibition will take place at 6:00 in Bank OZK Arena at the Hot Springs Convention Center. Tickets for sumo are $30 for general admission, $15 for 12 and under general admission, and $50 for floor seating.

The HUB Bike Lounge
Join us for a day of horseback riding in the Ozarks. We will saddle up after a short safety briefing that will let you get acquainted with your horse. We will go on an hour long ride through the fields, woods, and creeks with an experienced guide. This experience is perfect for new horseback riders and experienced riders looking for a relaxing day.
After our ride, we will enjoy drinks (first drink is on us!) and food at Whistling Springs Brewing Co. located on the same property as the horse stables. The Brewery has a rotating selection of beer, root beer, and eats. After enjoying drinks and food, you can give the farm animals some love, including a roaming pig that likes to frequent the brewery.
*All riders should be under 250 pounds. Wine selection is based on season and available inventory.

The 10th Annual Frozen Knuckles Run
The Barracks at Chaffee
The 10th Annual Frozen Knuckles Run will be on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024 at The Barracks at Chaffee Crossing in Fort Smith, AR (7320 Ellis Street). Onsite registration will open at 10:30 AM. Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM. Kick Stands Up at 12:30 PM.
Cost is $15 per biker, $20 for biker plus passenger.
The first hundred people will get a pulled pork sandwich, chips, cookies, and a drink.
We will have special 10th Annual FKR t-shirts and patches for purchase.
All proceeds benefit the charities of the Steel Horse Rally.

Arkansas Cherry Blossom Festival
Hot Springs Convention Center
The Hot Springs National Park Sister City Foundation will host the annual Arkansas Cherry Blossom Festival, a celebration of Japanese culture, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 3. The event will be held in the Hot Springs Convention Center at 134 Convention Boulevard. This seventh annual family-friendly event has something for all ages. General admission will be free.
The 2024 festival will again feature cultural demonstrations, exhibits, musical performances including taiko drums, and for the first time ever sumo. Japanese lectures and workshops for those wanting a more hands-on experience will also be available. There are fees for some of the workshops and events. Be watching the website for more information and reservation information beginning February 1.
A variety of traditional Japanese carnival games as well as an anime cosplay contest is planned. Prizes for the Third Annual Arkansas Cherry Blossom Festival Haiku competition will be awarded with winners invited to read their haiku at the event.
Sumo! Sumo! Sumo,” Arkansas’s first-ever sumo wrestling exhibition, featuring some of the most famous names in the sport, will take place Sunday, March 3, at Hot Springs’ Bank OZK Arena at 6pm. Tickets for sumo are available at https://www.hotsprings.org/events/sumo/.

Taiko has been vital to Japanese history and culture - even to current times. Learn about the drums, performing, and cultural relevance. This lecture will be led by members of St. Loius Owasu Taiko who will be performing on stage at the festival.

Join local calligrapher, Kate Edwards, at Good Day Pottery & Art Studio to learn the basics of modern calligraphy! In this two and a half hour class you’ll learn about the supplies used for pointed pen calligraphy, how to hold a pen holder, letterforms and how they’re assembled, and troubleshooting tips and tricks. You’ll walk away with the ability to get ink flowing from nib to paper and all the tools needed to practice and develop your calligraphy skills. Supplies are included and are yours to keep!

If there is inclement weather during the time of this guided hike, an alternative program about the Trail of Tears will be located inside the visitor center theater room.
