On a Winter’s Night is returning to the Center for the Arts for our fifth season of shows. The River Valley’s rock Christmas spectacular will take place at 7 PM, November 11th and 2 PM, November 12. Come join an amazing lineup of musicians as they perform the music of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Wizards of Winter, Symphony North, and several other artists. The show will include an amazing light and video show. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the show. All proceeds go to Arkansas Center for Music Education to support their programs. The cast for the production is: Dr. Brian Faulkner -keyboards/musical director, Mike Lovelady – drums, Andy Lindemann – bass guitar, Jeff Sweeden –electric guitar, David Scott – electric guitar, Wren Whiteseven – violin, Shirley Faulkner – vocals, Dr. Mark Gotcher – vocals/acoustic guitar, Paul Milner –vocals/bass guitar, Missy Taylor-Milner – vocals, Joe Cross – vocals, Tyler Petty –vocals/keyboard, Boyd Barton – vocals/acoustic guitar, and Richard Minick – storyteller. They will also be joined by the Community Festival Chorale and members of the special needs choir on a couple of songs.

The Memphis Astronomical Society will be hosting a Star Party on Saturday, October 14th at
7 p.m. This is a free family-friendly event to the public and no reservations are required. Participants will meet at the park's meeting room next to the visitor center. The first part of the program allows participants to learn what is in the night sky. Afterwards, participants will move to the horse trailer parking lot where everyone will have the chance to see night sky objects through telescopes. - Santa and Mrs. Claus will leave the Post Office at 1pm and end at Santa's Workshop, aka The Toggery, for photos and fun.
- WordsWorth Books will host Gingerbread Man Story Time at 12:15 pm.
- The Toggery will host Anna and Elsa from Frozen from 1 to 3 pm, as well as a bounce house, games with the ChatterBus, and a special pop up by GRL PWR Jewelry.
- Simply Dixie will have Jingle Juice (mimosas) and a storewide sale.
- Bella Boutique will have a Reindeer Food Making Station from 1-3pm.
- Shorty Smalls and BBQ Place will be set up in front of First Security.
- Enjoy Cookie Decorating at Eggshells.

- Camp Yoga will be open with clearance on Lululemon apparel.
- Boulevard Bread will be serving hot cocoa and cookies.
- Tipton & Hurst will be hosting their annual Holiday Open House from Noon - 5pm. Seasonal food/refreshments will be served.

Poetry Reading at the Library
Join us for an afternoon of refreshments and poetry at the Faulkner County Library. Doors will open at 2:00 pm and attendees will have the opportunity to meet and greet with our local poets, Stacey Margaret Jones and Scott Lewis. This event is free and open to the public. About the authors:
Stacey Margaret Jones and Scott Lewis are both Conway, Arkansas writers who earned an MFA in Creative Writing from UCA and who are now on faculty at the university.
Stacey is an adjunct instructor in the UCA School of Language and Literature, where she teaches courses in poetry. Scott is a visiting lecturer in the Department of Student Transitions, where he teaches College Literacy.
Stacey’s novel Mr. Catherine, published by Creators Publishing in 2019, was a finalist for the Eric Hoffer First Horizon Award for debut fiction. Her poetry has been published in a number of online and print reviews.
Scott is the author of the lyric-epic Arkansas Ghoulash. His other work appears in The Banyan Review, Arkansas Life, The Meadow, Bear Review, the Toad Suck Review, The Best of Toad Suck Review, and Investigative Creative Writing: Teaching and Practice by Mark Spitzer.

The Diana Project - Saving the State Butterfly

This hour long presentation will compare and contrast the Diana Fritillary butterfly to the more familiar Monarch, explain the history and purpose of The Diana Project and provide resources to help you get involved. You will leave with an understanding of why you should make your yard friendlier for all Arkansas pollinators and resources to get you started. Presented by Ms. Shawn Hunter, NWA Master Naturalist, Ozark Wild One and The Diana Project Co-Founder.
Shawn Hunter is a member of NWA Master Naturalists and Ozark Wild Ones. A graduate of John Brown University and United States Navy Veteran, Miss Hunter founded and operated Inuendos Design Company in Siloam Springs, Arkansas from 2002 to 2022. In her capacities as veteran and small business owner she gained useful project management and marketing skills she now uses to support conservation efforts. As co-founder and project lead for The Diana Project her current focus is to educate the public about the unique needs of Arkansas’s threatened State Butterfly, The Diana Fritillary (Argynnis Diana), and how they can help

Join us as we learn about the history of the Old Military Road Trail and the Trail of Tears. This program will last an hour and will consist of hiking 1.5-miles. Please bring water and wear comfortable hiking shoes. This is a free family-friendly event that requires no registration. If there is inclement weather during the time of this guided hike, an alternative program about the Trail of Tears will be located inside the visitor center theater room.
