Kitchen Table SilverSmithing - Rings & Earrings
101 N Peabody Ave, Mountain View
Location: Arkansas Craft School
101 N. Peabody Mountain View, AR
Tuition and Materials: $270
Students: ages 16+
Have you always wanted to learn how to make jewelry using metals like sterling silver, but felt intimidated by the cost of getting started? Soldering real silver jewelry doesn’t require a setup that costs hundreds of dollars!
For an equipment investment of under $100, all kinds of creative doors will be opened to you once you learn how to use a Butane Micro-Torch for silver soldering.
In this two-day workshop, we will cover all the basics of how to start metalsmithing and soldering with a torch. You will create 3 styles of rings and 3 styles of earrings. We will cover how to size rings in different kinds of stock, how to make a freeform wire ring, and how to set small stones in premade settings. For the earrings, you’ll make a pair of hoops, a pair of dangly earrings with ear wires, and finally a set of post earrings with small cabochons.
You don’t need any experience to take this class. It’s 100% beginner-friendly and all the tools and supplies are included in your tuition and kit fee.
If you have your own tools, you’re encouraged to bring those so you can build familiarity with them, but there will be lots of other tools to try out in class as well.

Seed Swap and Local Food Workshop
Arkansas River Valley Library Dardanelle
Welcome Honeycomb Seed, ROOST (Revitalizing Ozark and Ouachita Seed Traditions), and farmer Zack McCannon for a seed swap and interactive workshop focused on getting local farm and food businesses off the ground.
Farmers and gardeners are encouraged to bring seeds to swap and share with the library’s growing seed bank. Anyone interested in learning more about selling farm products for profit or starting a farm business is encouraged to take part in the interactive workshop!
The workshop will be led by Zack McCannon who owns Honeycomb Seed and co-owns Bell Urban Farm & Farmstand with his wife Kim in Conway, Arkansas. Honeycomb and Bell focus on the entrepreneurial spirit to build local food systems and economies. Zack graduated with a Filmmaking degree from the University of Central Arkansas in 2007 and directed/produced documentaries including Seed Swap in the Ozarks (2011 Independent YouTube) and Music in Arkansas: Origins (2017 Arkansas PBS); before pursuing local food based businesses in 2019.
More on the Local Food Entrepreneurial Workshop:
This entrepreneurial workshop will dig into how to start and run a business using an urban farm, local foods grocery store, and open-pollinated seed company as an example - including insight into the many rewarding aspects and hardships of owning your own business. We will first study the common procedures for incorporating, bookkeeping, taxes, and other Federal and State guidelines for owning and operating a business. Then, participants will be able to outline their business or idea in an encouraging environment and work through the steps needed to launch and operate their own business.
This program is supported by a grant from the Arkansas Community Foundations Access to Local Food funding. Lunch will be provided for those taking part in the workshop! Please RSVP to 479-957-0551.
More on the Seed Swap:
Please bring seeds to share and/or seeds to donate to the library’s seed bank. If you know the history of your seeds, please bring those stories to share as well. All seeds will be stored in the library’s seed bank so they can be preserved for generations of growers to come.

Stippling Art and Drawing Technique
FREE (registration required)
Join Tammy Buchanan as she demonstrates the Stippling Art and Drawing Technique, a popular way to create interesting textures and patterns in art. It involves using small dots of ink or other drawing medium to build up an image. The stippling technique can also be used to create shadows and highlights, by making the dots appear closer together, or further apart. This forms the contours of the shape and gives an image depth and realism.

409 W Van Buren, Eureka Springs
Theology On Tap is an exploration of current events and/or social issues - grappling with the bigger questions over a cold beer. Come willing to listen, explore, and share, over a cold beer. Topic rotates monthly. We share, listen, contemplate, and ponder the questions/ideas that arise.
Join us as we explore these questions with Rev. Blake Lasater (and sometimes co-host Wendy Reese Hartmann) while enjoying a cold beer, wine or nonalcoholic beverage.
This month's topic is based on the book: https://amzn.to/3RzCB9P.
