The One-Eyed Stranger - A two-act scripted comedy show

The Joint Comedy Theater

This original comedy by The Main Thing begins with the arrival of an unexpected guest showing up at the Fertle Family’s house in Dumpster, Arkansas. The stranger seems to know all of them very well, but no one can figure out who he is or why he has come. Soon the whole town is trying to solve the mystery.

The Joint has the very best in live comedy entertainment, featuring our resident professional comedy company...a world-class trio of actors and musicians known as The Main Thing.

What is The Main Thing? It's three people doing multiple comic characters and playing multiple musical instruments. It’s the singing Fertle family; it’s Arkansas satire. It’s a sketch comedy and full length plays.

Their work has been featured on Saturday Night Live, MTV, HBO, Off-Broadway, and on Dick Clark’s United Stations Radio Network. They now make their permanent home right here, creating and performing original comedies year-round. We feel safe to say that The Main Thing’s shows will be the funniest live comedy you've ever seen!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Born in St. Louis, Lucious Spiller discovered at an early age that God had blessed him with a special gift. Gospel, blues, and R&B music permeated his home and he absorbed it all. His father gave Lucious a guitar when he was four and taught him his first chords. Lucious was a natural. He hails from the Spiller family which has contributed to and enhanced the musical experiences of countless people across the country and the world. His family, founders of “Black Prairie Blues”, have their own permanent marker on the Mississippi Blues Trail in Macon, MS. His early memories include watching his father Lucious Spiller Sr, his uncle "Magic Sam", his cousins, Eddy Clearwater, Vernon, and Joe Harrington, and many other blues greats perform during family reunions. Lucious was itching to play. He started out playing bass guitar in church. And the rest is history!

Relocating to Arkansas at the age of 18, he forged his way through the ranks with an energy and fervor that to this day remain undiminished. He attended Philander Smith College in Little Rock and graduated with a degree in Elementary Art. Children are drawn to him, and his original children's blues song "Pat Your Foot" has kids and adults of all ages patting their feet.

Lucious' musical ability and showmanship have catapulted him to the top of the music scene. Lucious lists his greatest influences as his father, Lucious Spiller Sr, Magic Sam, John Kilzer, Larry "Totsy" Davis, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, Ruby Russell (his godmother). He has performed with, recorded with, and/or opened for countless well-known musicians and legendary artists spanning several genres including Bo Diddly, James Brown, Temptations, Black Crowes, Larry “Totsy” Davis, Michael Burks, Albert King, Fenton Robinson, Calvin Leavy, Koko Taylor, Gregg Allman, Eric Gales, Gary Clark Jr, Coco Montoya, Debbie Davies, Becky Barksdale, Big Jack Johnson, Marion "Doc Tomato" Oliver, T-Model Ford, Henry “Gip” Gipson, Robert “Bilbo” Walker, John Kilzer, Ritchie Havens, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, “Super Chikan”, Bobby Rush,Tower of Power, Leon Russell, Zach Brown, CeDell Davis, Mark “Muleman” Massey, Billy Boy Arnold, Johnny Drummer, William Bell, Cedric Burnside, Sam Carr, Arthur Williams, Luther Allison, Eddy Clearwater, Vernon Harrington, Merle Perkins, Joe Harrington, Little Johnny Taylor, RJ Mischo, RL Boyce, Robert Lockwood Jr, Leo “Bud” Welch, Shirley Caesar, Albertina Walker, Bobby Jones, Keith Pringle (pianist and choir director for Rev. James Cleveland), Rev. Jerry Black, Gerald Thompson, Leonard Givens, Gladys McFadden & the Loving Sisters, and many, many others.

In 2014, Lucious won 2nd Place in the Solo/Acoustic Category Finals at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. He missed the top spot by 1/2 point to a Canadian, making him " #1 in the USA, #2 in the world." His self-produced acoustic blues CD, "Born to Sing the Blues", is a favorite of blues fans all over the world. Lucious was also featured in 2014 on New York's LEGENDS TV. He is featured in the award-winning documentary, "True Delta" and the new streaming reality series "Moonshine and Mojo Hands". In 2015, Lucious kicked off the inaugural bus tour of the Americana Blues Triangle with a stunning solo performance in Helena, AR. He has performed and been interviewed twice by Sonny Payne of the legendary "King Biscuit Time" on KFFA radio in Helena, AR, and has been asked back for a third visit. In 2015, the David and Barbara Pryor Center for Arkansas Oral and Visual History interviewed Lucious and many other blues artists for a compilation of video interviews and recordings of the blues legends of the Delta. These interviews were released in October 2017. Lucious was joined by Cam Kimbrough on April 2017 for a performance during a live broadcast of “Thacker Mountain Radio Hour”. In June 2017, Lucious performed with Robert “Bilbo” Walker in CNN’s Great Big Story “The Last Joint”. Lucious is also featured in a National Public Radio (NPR) Night Owl video which was aired in October 2017. In September 2017, Lucious was humbled to receive one of his most treasured honors: a sign of his likeness was mounted in downtown Clarksdale, MS. His sign hangs alongside the likenesses of Muddy Waters, Sam Cooke, Tennessee Williams, John Lee Hooker, Ike Turner, Big Jack Johnson, Vera Mae Piggee, Tennessee Williams, W.C. Handy, and so many others who were/are influential to the culture of Clarksdale, MS, the world epicenter of the blues. Lucious is presently working on his next studio CD, "Still Paying Dues", due out in 2018.

Lucious Spiller is a truly gifted artist, songwriter, singer, musician, teacher, and mentor. He has inspired, influenced, instructed, and encouraged many up-and-coming blues artists such as Seth Freeman, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Zack Bramhall, Heather Crosse, and Akeem Kemp. Seth Freeman recorded a version of Lucious Spiller's original song "Put the Blame on Me" for his debut album.

Lucious Spiller's music, rooted in blues and gospel, is unique and fresh yet embodies the spirit of the traditional. He blends all of his gifts and influences into a performance straight from his soul. He IS the music, all of it. He plays what he feels, and he feels what he plays. There is nobody like Lucious Spiller, and everybody who hears or sees Lucious Spiller perform is blown away. In October 2013, Living Blues Magazine featured Lucious and dubbed him a "driving force for the blues". Travel Tips and Pics (March 2017) said: "...Lucious Spiller,...isn’t just playing the guitar, he IS the guitar – kind of like when good actors become the part instead of just playing a role." And in April 2017, the Associated Press had this to say: "Red's showcases under-the-radar, brilliantly talented musicians like Lucious Spiller, whose performances will make you realize why the blues still matter." He is not to be missed!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mojo Depot began some three decades ago when Jason Adams (drums), Tyndall Jackson (guitar and vocals), Rob Moore (vocals and guitar) and John “Johnny-B” Wright (bass and vocals) got together under the name The Loose Change, performing at clubs that included the White Water Tavern. After a few years, the band moved to the Bay Area and then to Los Angeles, where a debut CD, Phantom Train, had its beginnings. A new name emerged, Mojo Depot, and the group traveled and wrote more music, which became the next CD, Crazy to Believe. For a time, the band was a coast-to-coast phenomenon, with Moore living in Berkeley, Calif., and Jackson attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Eventually, the two rejoined their Arkansas pals and began recording off-and-on in Arkansas City, where they could work in seclusion, away from the temptations of the big city of Little Rock. Like the “band of brothers” theyconsider themselves, Mojo Depot has opened shows for The Allman Brothers Band, The Neville Brothers and The Cate Brothers. Along with original songs, Mojo Depot performs selected material from The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers, Taj Mahal and Robert Earl Keen. Mojo Depot offers a montage of musical styles reflecting a broad range of influences; the result is a great variety of flavorful music producing truly memorable audio and visual experiences. The band is made up of four lifetime colleagues forming an intriguing core group, attracting an ever-changing lineup of special guests while encouraging contributions to the creative process. A liberal approach to live and recorded music promotes and ensures a unique happening, whenever Mojo performs. Mojo Depot delivers over twenty years of collaborative effort evoking one of the tightest and most professional rock & roll shows on the road today. After spending six years in Los Angeles, the band returned to its roots in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Riff-monsters Crobot conjures up the kind of rock ‘n’ roll that has grooves so powerful they throw you around the room and hook high enough to shake the heavens. They take the sweet-sounding nectar of the gods and pour it down your throat until you’re wailing along like a banshee.

With tens of millions of streams, countless shows, and acclaim from the likes of Metal Hammer, Classic Rock, Kerrang, BBC Radio, SiriusXM Octane, Loudwire, Guitar World, and more, Brandon Yeagley [vocals], Chris Bishop
[guitar], Tim Peugh [bass], and Dan Ryan [drums] realize their vision like never before on their fifth full-length, Feel This [Released June 3 via Mascot Records].

Feel This is the follow-up to 2019’s Top 10 Heatseekers album Motherbrain – whose cumulative streams have surpassed 30 million. 20 million of which were for the goliath single “Low Life” – a US Top 10 at active rock radio on the Billboard Mainstream with a 29-week run.

“This is the record we’ve been wanting to do ever since we started,” exclaims Brandon. “We’ve always thought of ourselves as a live act,” he continues. “When Jay Ruston described his process of recording, we were beyond excited about getting in and getting our hands dirty. It involved performing live as a unit and finishing all instruments on a song before moving on to the next. We recorded 16 songs in 21 days, which is a feat in itself.”

Feel This is a tale of perseverance. “Through constant struggles, we learn more what it’s like to be human. Our shortcomings and strengths alike make us a unique species,” Brandon reflects. “Feel This very well may point to our biggest strength of all, our ability to feel emotion (for better or worse).”

Human nature is threaded throughout the album, from volatile relationships [“Dizzy”] to imperfections and learning from mistakes on “Holy Ghost.” Its warbling harmony wraps around the wah-drenched guitar straight out of Seattle; Brandon’s grunge-y wail rings out on the hook, “I am not the holy ghost. I won’t ever save your soul.” There’s “believing in something so much” on “Set You Free,” which spirals towards a seismic crescendo and emotionally charged guitar lead from Bishop.
Around the psyche-digging lyrics, they are never far away from thunderous rock ‘n’ roll. “Electrified” kickstarts the album as a rip-roaring livewire anthem. “It’s your classic rock ‘n’ roll tune about Frankenstein boots and being invincible!” Brandon says. There’s an epic anti-hero tale on “Without Wings,” and then there’s “Dance with the Dead.” Forgetting your troubles over an irresistible groove, the song struts with high-register harmonies and the infectious chant of “Let’s go dance with the dead. They know how to kill it!”

“Golden” is a soaring homage to a god gone too soon. “When it came to the lyrics, we collectively wanted it to be a tribute to Chris Cornell,” says Brandon. “We’re so influenced by everything he and Soundgarden have done. We ran with the song in honor of his legacy.”

They made waves with Legend of the Spaceborne Killer [2012], Something Supernatural [2014], and Welcome To Fat City [2016]. However, Motherbrain [2019] represented a high watermark. They’ve crisscrossed the US and the world in road-warrior style, playing with the likes of Anthrax, Black Label Society, Chevelle, Clutch, Volbeat, and more. They’ve lit up festival bills and the annual Shiprocked! Cruise. “We tour the pockets off of our pants and sleep in our van for half of the year. To some, that may seem like misery, but to us – it’s Heaven baby!” the frontman says. Something they highlight on the new song, “Livin’ on the Streets”.

2019 ended with a US tour supporting Steel Panther, and then Covid19 punched the world in the face. As the Global Pandemic descended upon us, Chris and Dan hunkered down in Austin to jam and cut demos, sending ideas to Brandon back in Pennsylvania. 2021 saw the boys enter Orb Studios in Austin with producer Ruston [Stone Sour, Anthrax, Steel Panther]. Since the world has begun to open up, the band has not stood still. Rat Child EP was released last summer and featured a mighty cast of Frank Bello [Anthrax], Howard Jones [Light The Torch/ex-Killswitch Engage], and Stix Zadinia [Steel Panther]. They’ve also headed out on headline tours, played ass-kicking performances at festivals such as Rocklahoma, Aftershock, and Jericho Cruise, and supported Halestorm.

You’ll feel rock ‘n’ roll comes to life in Crobot’s hands. “We never want to make the same album twice,” Brandon leaves off. “There is something for every Crobot fan out there as well as newcomers. At the same time, we’re having fun. We want to be taken seriously, but not too seriously—because this is monkey hour after all.” “That’s the fucking line right there,” agrees Bishop. “We want you to walk away smiling. If I can make you smile, I’ve done my job.”
