Stand-Up Comedy with Richard Douglas Jones
The Joint Comedy Theater
Self professed, “Southern Fried Nerd,” comedian Richard Douglas Jones was a theatre kid long before he ever thought of telling his first joke. But thanks to a series of unfortunate events, Richard (RDJ) now entertains crowds both on stage and on his weekly podcast Black Nerd Power. Richard has been seen on Comedy Central, The LOL Network, and frequently opens for Hannibal Buress and Patton Oswalt. Richard has played clubs all over the country and headlined the Memphis and Plano Comedy Festivals as well as attended several others including Big Pine and Bridgetown Comedy Festivals.
Richard often travels to comic book conventions including Wizard World and MomoCon where he interviews guests for Black Nerd Power and delivers his lecture on The History of Black Superheroes. His award winning podcast, Black Nerd. Power, features interviews from inside the worlds of comic books, film, and stand up comedy. Past guest have included Zach Callison (Steven Universe); John Witherspoon; and DL Hughley. As a frequent comic book convention attendee, Richard was inspired to speak up for his fellow black nerds after witnessing the ridicule and less than relegation they’re often given at these events.
As a result, his comedy ends up being a mash up of nerd culture, race relations, and social commentary. He’s determined to break molds and shatter not only racial stereotypes but nerdy expectations too!
This show will also feature opening comic Dustin Vance + hosted by Lucas Aaron Smith.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Learn the basics of prepping, cleaning, and painting furniture. You'll have the opportunity to try out several different products and tools.
Included is a 16 oz container of paint (a $25 value) in the color of your choice - enough to paint your piece and take the rest home to paint more pieces!

Enjoy a flight of 3 of our local wines paired perfectly with a macaron that will have you smiling all afternoon long! Each flight is $15 and includes 3 tastings of wine (2oz pour) and 3 macarons. Don't have a partner to do-si-do with? Bring a friend! Put them to the test and see if they know all things YOU! The Garage Arcade will provide a fun night through this couple’s trivia. Competitors will be asked questions about their date's hobbies, favorites, and random facts. Questions will cover all things favorite cheese to dream house. Couples with the most matching answers take home the prize (and will probably win a lot of brownie points with their partner!).
