Book Your Bubble

Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 11 AM – 11:30 PM
Pope County Library System
Hosted by Pope County Library Youth Services and Pope County Library System

Q: Hey! This sounds COOL! Who can I bring?
A: Up to 10 people from your immediate family bubble.

Q: AWESOME! When can we come in?
A: Book your Bubble from 11:00 to 11:30 Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Wednesday is preschool story time, Thursday is bilingual story time and Friday is Music with Mr. Travis.

Q: THIS IS GREAT! Do we just show up?
A: Nope, you need to call to book an appointment. 479.968.4368 you must speak to either Ms. Melanie or Tammy Montjoy.

Q: I'm in! Sign me up for every day of the week!
A: Hold your horses! You can book your family bubble once a month so everybody gets a chance to attend an event.

Q: What are the safety measures?
A: Your family will be required to wear masks--yes even the kids. We will most likely be singing songs which projects germs further so all family members will need to be masked. Your family will be seated 12 feet away from the storytellers. The storytellers will be wearing face shields so that you can hear them read and sing, but still be protected. The event will be held privately in Heritage Hall. We will be filming the event for our virtual story times.

Houston Audubon
Hosted by Houston Audubon

Tickets: houstonaudubon.org

The Upper Texas Coast – one of the best places in the nation for observing shorebirds – is a beautiful and complex habitat of salt marsh, coastal marsh, uplands and beach. Only a short drive from Houston, this critically important habitat provides resting, feeding and breeding sites for hundreds of thousands of birds each year. Included in this habitat is Bolivar Flats, recognized as an important resting and feeding site for migrating shorebirds throughout the Western Hemisphere. In this course, participants will learn the “how, what, when, and where to look to identify families and individual species of shorebirds. On the field trip we will observe shorebirds in their natural habitat and practice the concepts, tips, and techniques learned in class to identify them. Class is open to everyone but beginners may find this class more meaningful if they have taken Beginning Birdwatching and Fundamentals of Birdwatching, although not required.

Virtual Class: Tuesday, August 18, 2020 (7:00-8:45 PM)
Field Trip: Saturday, August 22, 2020. 8 AM - 4 PM
Class Fee: $75.00 (field trip included)

Class will be offered remotely online. Class participation is welcomed and recommended.

The field trip component is planned in recognition of the current virus conditions. Consequently, we will follow certain safety measures for everyone’s benefit. These include wearing masks, everyone traveling in their own vehicle, physical distancing (6 feet or more). Other measure may be added if needed.
Additionally, if conditions worsen the field trip may be rescheduled to a future date. If you cannot attend the field trip, you will have a credit for any future class field trip of your choosing. In registering for the class you agree to follow these safety procedures and follow the instructor’s guidance on the trip.
