Are you ready for the weekend? There are a LOT of events going on — both in-person and virtually. We have narrowed our focus to more local events this week because we have plenty to do right here! If you miss the more global aspect of our events post, let us know, we can always include some of those again in next week’s edition. Take a look and see what events you can enjoy with family and friends This Weekend in the Arkansas River Valley!

NOTE: We do our best to bring you accurate information… however, some events may have been scheduled previously and not been updated since COVID-19 restrictions have been set in place. We have reached out to event venues to try to confirm, but encourage you to do the same before you head out to an advertised event. Everything is still subject to change.

Art of the Valley Close of Business Sale

Thursday, May 14, 2020 from 11 AM – 3 PM
Art of the Valley, 118 S Commerce Avenue, Russellville

Some things we wish didn’t have to happen…

We will have furniture, electronics, art supplies, art, etc. for sale! We can only allow 6 at a time to shop around, so please bring minimal friends and family and respect social distancing guidelines. Some prices are firm but we will accept reasonable offers. Must have a way to haul off items. We can accept cash or PayPal. I will place some pictures in the comments if you would like to preview. First come first serve. What we don’t sell on Thursday I may be one day the following week. There will be no open paint or any painting done this day. We may personalize something for you on a case by case basis.

Art of the Valley is a business we will truly miss in downtown Russellville. A place where people could get together, learn to paint, have fun, experiment, and unleash their creative side. One of my favorite things about this business, is their heart to serve the local community. They have opened their doors and reduced their rates for disabled folks to come and have fun creating works of art. I personally have several wonderful paintings hanging on my walls that were done by my sister through their community outreach. We will miss you!

GOOD NEWS!! We are putting together an Ultimate Oldies Show to be LIVE-STREAMED on FRIDAY, MAY 15TH from the Collins Theatre. We are excited that we can do this for our loyal fans and hoping to reach new ones who have never been. It will be broadcast from The Collins Theatre Facebook Page. The performers have agreed to donate their time for this show. All proceeds will go directly to the Collins for operating expenses. There will be several ways you can make a donation: VENMO, CASH APP, CHECKS MADE OUT TO THE COLLINS THEATRE, AND PAYPAL. There will be more details in a later post on how to go through this process.

Back by popularity. Painting loose and easy flowers on notecards.

Watercolor has a unique personality. I have been exploring this medium for over 12 years. It still surprises me and excites me. I will teach you washes and techniques to interpret loose and confident flowers. I will guide you through the process with demos and then time for you to create your own watercolor compositions. Your experience will equip you to move forward with watercolors having more confidence to paint more on your own or in future classes.

No experience is required. It will be for beginners and intermediate watercolorists. Come as you are with curiosity and a desire to learn more about the wonderful medium of watercolors.

I hope you will join me for this creative opportunity.
