Fall Foliage Report

maple-2135514_640.jpg

It’s time to take a scenic drive and enjoy a little seasonal color! We have had good rainfall this year, and the leaves are starting to turn. It’s time to enjoy this beautiful Natural State! Some of our favorite drives include:

Arkansas 10 from Little Rock toward Lake Maumelle - There are lots of rolling hills full of trees! Drive from Little Rock toward Lake Maumelle, and then take Highway 9 north to Perryville. You might even stop for a burger at Mustang Sally’s. And if you have time, take a slight detour to Petit Jean State Park. You can enjoy the scenic drive there and look over the valley from Stout’s Point and other spots.

US 71 in Mena to Arkansas 88 into Oklahoma - You’ll find lots of panoramic vistas overlooking the Ouachita Mountains on this beautiful drive! The Ouachita National Forest has an abundance of shortleaf pine and hardwood forests. Also on the drive is Rich Mountain, the 2nd highest peak in Arkansas and Queen Wilhelmina State Park.

Pig Trail Scenic Byway/Arkansas 23 - This drive rosses the Mulberry River and the Ozark Highlands Trail. From the southern edge of the Ozark National Forest to Arkansas 16, you’ll find lots of beautiful scenery as well as shopping, cabins and camping. You won’t want to miss the dramatic views along this drive!

10-state Great River Road National Scenic Byway - This is one of the oldest, longest and most unique scenic byways in the nation. and 362 miles of it winds through the Natural State of Arkansas. Enjoy not just the beautiful fall colors, but lots of historical and cultural sites along the way.

Book Your Bubble

Friday, October 9, 2020 from 10 – 10:30 AM
Pope County Library System
Hosted by Pope County Library Youth Services and Pope County Library System

Q: Hey! This sounds COOL! Who can I bring?
A: Up to 10 people from your immediate family bubble.

Q: AWESOME! When can we come in?
A: Book your Bubble from 10:00 to 10:30 AM Wednesday, or Friday. Wednesday is preschool story time, and Friday is Music with Mr. Travis.

Q: THIS IS GREAT! Do we just show up?
A: Nope, you need to call to book an appointment. 479.968.4368 you must speak to either Ms. Melanie or Tammy Montjoy.

Q: I'm in! Sign me up for every day of the week!
A: Hold your horses! You can book your family bubble once a month so everybody gets a chance to attend an event.

Q: What are the safety measures?
A: Your family will be required to wear masks--yes even the kids. We will most likely be singing songs which projects germs further so all family members will need to be masked. Your family will be seated 12 feet away from the storytellers. The storytellers will be wearing face shields so that you can hear them read and sing, but still be protected. The event will be held privately in Heritage Hall. We will be filming the event for our virtual story times.
