Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop
Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 9 AM – 3 PM
University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton
Hosted by University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton and UACCM Workforce & Community Education
The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will host the Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop, an Arkansas-based workforce initiative designed to increase the number of skilled professionals in the state, from September 28 to October 2. The workshop will take place partially on campus, including an evening event, with the workshop also scheduled to visit schools in the area. These events are free and open to the community.
While on the UACCM campus, the workshop will be located in the University Center parking lot. On other days, the workshop will take place at nearby high schools. Guidelines are in place to protect the health and wellness for participants, including a limitation of 10 people in the workshop at a time.
Schedule:
Thursday, October 1 – UACCM (All Are Invited), 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Established in 2016, the Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop encourages student participation in 16positions that are in high demand in Arkansas, including in the fields of construction, trucking, welding, manufacturing, HVAC, and others. The 78-food mobile unit workshop showcases the makeup of these positions with interactive work stations that engage participants through immersive gaming, skills challenges, and video. The program is an initiative of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce and associated with industries of Arkansas. Be Pro Be Proud’s goal is to address a skills gap of technical labor in Arkansas. According to the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce, approximately 60,000 openings of job positions exist in Arkansas with the majority being in high-skilled technical fields. This corroborates with a national trend of a labor shortage, with 82 percent of manufacturers nationwide reporting a moderate or serious shortage of skilled workers. In Arkansas, the challenge is related to an aging workforce in these fields, with 23 percent of these professionals near retirement age.
For more information, contact Denise Pote, coordinator of workforce development and community education, at (501) 977-5322, or at workforce@uaccm.edu.

A: Book your Bubble from 10:00 to 10:30 AM Wednesday, or Friday. Wednesday is preschool story time, and Friday is Music with Mr. Travis.

A: Nope, you need to call to book an appointment. 479.968.4368 you must speak to either Ms. Melanie or Tammy Montjoy.
Q: I'm in! Sign me up for every day of the week!
A: Hold your horses! You can book your family bubble once a month so everybody gets a chance to attend an event.
Q: What are the safety measures?
A: Your family will be required to wear masks--yes even the kids. We will most likely be singing songs which projects germs further so all family members will need to be masked. Your family will be seated 12 feet away from the storytellers. The storytellers will be wearing face shields so that you can hear them read and sing, but still be protected.
