The 1800s brought many emigrants to the river valley; these pioneers had to learn to live off the land. Basket making, by using oak splits, was an important task for every pioneer. Weave your own basket in this hands-on class and reflect on those who lived in this area before it was a state park. Bring a sack lunch or plan to visit a local restaurant. Snakes can be scary, until we understand them better. Join us as we read about the adventure of a tiny snake and find out more about these sssensational critters. Participants can choose to touch one of our resident snake ambassadors and make a paper pet snake to take home. We’ll end the morning with a short hike around the Ozark Plateau Trail where you will find out where all the snakes go in the winter. Recommended for children ages 4 and up.
