Silverpoint is an especially challenging medium, but that is part of the allure, and Williams-Smith has been working with it since 1985. The effect of light on the silver lines creates a shimmering quality that is quite different from any other drawing technique. Williams-Smith uses this medium to capture and empathize the spiritual energy that exists within us all.

The 1800s brought many emigrants to the river valley; these pioneers had to learn to live off the land. Basket making, by using oak splits, was an important task for every pioneer. Weave your own basket in this hands-on class and reflect on those who lived in this area before it was a state park. Bring a sack lunch or plan to visit a local restaurant. Journey with a park interpreter down historic Will Apple’s Road, a pathway that felt more hooves than tires in its heyday. At the end of
this trail, you’ll witness the ruins of what was once a spring break haven, that has now become historic ruins- Buckman's pool. The spur which reaches Buckman’s pool is short, but it is steep and moderately strenuous with uneven terrain. Seasonally appropriate attire, drinking
water, sturdy hiking shoes, insect repellent, and sunscreen (although this hike is
very shaded), are all highly recommended.

Are you looking for a fun way to get involved in the community and help some dogs? Want to build your leash handling skills? Join us every first Sunday of the month from 10-11 am with amazing adoptable dogs from rotating shelters. This community pack walk will be open to anyone 18 years old and up who RSVPs. We will go over some basics of leash training with positive reinforcement to help showcase some of the amazing pups there and get them more prepared for their furever home! We are REQUIRING you to sign up so that we can have an appropriate number of dogs and equipment on site. Please leave your perfect pooches at home so that we can give all our lovin' to these pups in need!

Join certified Forest Therapy Guide Jennifer for a relaxing journey through our woodland garden. This is a 2.5 to 3-hour guided and interactive forest meditation experience that is designed to help participants connect with themselves and the elements of nature surrounding us.

Based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku, forest therapy, or sometimes called ‘forest bathing’ is immersing yourself in a forested environment to receive the mental and physical health benefits provided by the natural environment. Lowered stress, a boost to your immunity, and deepening your creativity are just a few of the many things you can experience while connecting with nature through this forest therapy session. The session will include a slow-paced, mindful walk geared for adults with any mobility level.

Soil Blocking Workshop

We’re excited to have Sydney from Sacred Hollow Farm teaching this class on Soil Blocking— a seed starting technique using compacted cubes of soil. No need for plastic containers or seed trays to start your seeds this year!

Get hands on experience with soil preparation, creating blocks, sowing seed, watering techniques and go home with a tray of your own soil blocks! The class will cost $30 per person with only 15 seats available.

Each participant will receive a bag of seed starting soil, packet of seeds, a tray of soil blocks formed & planted in class and a soil block tray.

The workshop will include hands-on forming of the soil blocks with a soil blocking tool and instructions, tips and tricks on how to care for seedlings in the soil blocking technique.
