Exhibition on Screen Presents, Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers
100 River Market Ave, Little Rock, AR
200 years after its opening and a century after acquiring its first Van Gogh works, the National Gallery, London is hosting the UK’s biggest ever Van Gogh exhibition. Van Gogh is not only one of the most beloved artists of all time, but perhaps the most misunderstood.
This film is a chance to reexamine and better understand this iconic artist. Focusing on his unique creative process, Van Gogh: Poets & Lovers explores the artist’s years in the south of France, where he revolutionized his style. Van Gogh became consumed with a passion for storytelling in his art, turning the world around him into vibrant, idealized spaces and symbolic characters.
Poets and lovers filled his imagination; everything he did in the south of France served this new obsession. In part, this is what caused his notorious breakdown, but it didn’t hold back his creativity as he created masterpiece after masterpiece. Explore one of art history’s most pivotal periods in this once-in-a-century show.
Made in close collaboration with the National Gallery.
Important Information:
Film Start Time: Doors open at 3:00pm, and Exhibition on Screen will begin promptly at 4:00pm. As our films are general admission seating, please be sure to arrive early to secure your seat. Beer, wine, and concessions will be available.
Free Parking: We’re pleased to offer complimentary parking for all attendees. Simply bring your parking ticket from the library parking lot (across from the Main Library on Rock Street) or the parking deck (next to the Main Library on Rock Street) inside the theater, and our friendly box office staff will validate it for you. Validations are for paid ticket holders only.

Johnny Cash & Brave Spaces with Ruby M.
Faulkner County Library
Celebrate Johnny Cash's birthday with us!
Join us for an afternoon celebrating Johnny Cash, the Man in Black, with local professor and published author, Ruby Mongno. Doors will open at 2:00 pm for light refreshments and a meet-and-greet with the author. Readings will start at 2:30 pm to be followed by an audience Q&A.
About Ruby M. and her work:
In 2019, Ruby L Mongno published a freshman writing textbook with her co-author, Dr. Ellen Stengel. The book, which focused on highlighting a multiplicity of voices, emphasized the importance of exploring similar pieces of writing by college freshman, Honors College seniors, professional writers and professors. A recurring theme of the text is music, and an essay from esteemed queen of rock Patti Smith opens the text. Join Ruby for a discussion of her research, funded by an American Popular Culture fellowship, on Arkansas' own Johnny Cash. Based on the journals of June Carter Cash, Mongno theorizes an additional reason Cash became the Man in Black. Her essay "Signs: ReContextualizing the Man in Black" serves as a sample profile piece in the book.

This piece, as well as Villancico de Navidad and El Noi de la Mare are part of Fletcher’s Christmas album, released in 2015.
There will be music by Dowland, Ponce, Villa-Lobos, and the concert will culminate with Spanish composer Isaac Albeniz’s Córdoba and Leyenda from Cantos de España, arranged by Fletcher from piano to classical guitar
