Concert and Movie: National Park Radio and Big Buffalo Golden Gals

115 W. Rush Ave., Harrison, AR

On Friday June 14th at 7pm, join our membership drive kick-off sponsored by 20th Century Club with a short film by Misty Breedlove, "Big Buffalo Golden Gals," and a concert by National Park Radio! Poster design by Grace Archer.

Tickets are $20!

About Big Buffalo Golden Gals and Misty Breedlove:
In 1837 Abraham Villines and family moved to and settled what is now the Ponca Wilderness area of the Buffalo National River. One hundred and eighty-five years later, many of those descendants are still living and making their lives in the area. Misty Langdon is one of those descendants. This year, with the help of friend Ranger Lauren Ray, she took her 75 year old mother and three of her cousins aged 73-83, on a raft trip down river to reminisce and tell stories from the women’s point of view, of growing up and living on the creek, before it became America’s first national river. In “Big Buffalo Golden Gals” we invite you to hop in the raft and paddle along with these amazing women as they share their stories and memories of days gone by.

Director Biography - Misty Langdon, Lauren Ray
Misty Langdon has lived her life on the homestead settled by her mother's family in the 1800's. As a small child she enjoyed stories of the old times passed down by her family and neighbors. Her love of home, the Buffalo River, has been inspiration for many forms of creativity. Her latest, the Remnants Project, showcases her love of the people, their history, homesteads & family photos, to create an historical account of life on the Buffalo River before it became the nation's first national river. Big Buffalo Golden Gals is the first production for the Remnants Project, being accepted into and securing a win for Best Documentary 2023 at the Roger's Short Film Festival.

About NPR, from NPR.band:
“The BIGGEST little indie-folk duo”

National Park Radio is a nationally touring indie-folk “power duo” based in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas. With an impressive and consistently growing grassroots fanbase across the U.S. (and the world), husband and wife duo Stefan & Kerrie Szabo have made a name for themselves over the past several years with their beautiful harmonies, incredibly inspiring and relatable songwriting, and their unique and energetic live shows.

Perfect for fans of: The Avett Brothers, Caamp, The Lumineers, The Head and the Heart, First Aid Kit, Mumford & Sons

What makes National Park Radio unique?

Aside from their incredibly relatable songwriting and harmonies that connect with so many of their fans, their high-energy live shows - created by the duo bringing in a unique setup and multitasking configuration - brings a new level of sound created by just two people on stage. National Park Radio has been described as the “biggest sounding indie-folk duo” that there is, and between the two of them, many say they create the sound and energy of a 5-piece band.

The Shiloh Square, Downtown Springdale

Music Moves, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to make Black music and the arts accessible to both students and the entire NWA community, is thrilled to announce the return of Freedom Festival in partnership with NWA Juneteenth Committee, Interform, and Community Cohesion Project.

Now in its fourth year, The Freedom Festival is one of Arkansas’ largest commemoration and celebration recognizing Juneteenth, the federal holiday that marks the ending of slavery in the United States. Freedom Festival is a day for Northwest Arkansas and surrounding areas to gather, reflect and share in a festival of music, food, and fun. The Freedom Festival committee invites everyone to experience the goodwill and positivity of the thousands who gather in downtown Springdale for what has become an indispensable, annual NWA tradition.

Over 4,300 people attended to enjoy the family friendly Festival with activations that included a kid’s zone with games and activities, a vendor market featuring local entrepreneurs and businesses, a live fashion show, giveaways for attendees, and an incredible array of musical talent featuring top names and nostalgic acts providing entertainment for the entire family.

2024 Freedom Festival Music Lineup will include Soul Train Nominated R&B Artist “Donell Jones”, Iconic Funk Band “Cameo”, and Grammy Nominated Hip Hop Artist “Twista”. Several local and regional artists will open the festival.

Our corn hole tournament, sponsored by Landmark CPAs, has always been a staple of the event. Last year we added a trivia competition and to make sure that we have something for everybody – we’re playing bingo this year, too!

Proceeds from this event will directly benefit the UAFS Alumni Legacy Scholarship, empowering legacy students to pursue their dreams through higher education. Legacy students are the children, spouses, siblings, and parents of Fort Smith Jr. College, Westark, or UAFS graduates.

Thank you to our friends at Chambers Bank, our presenting sponsor, for ensuring that we can continue to grow this scholarship and serve an increasing number of legacy students.

If planning to come with friends, choose one main friend and have each friend message me to let me know who they're coming with.

It is highly recommended to look up ideas online for how you might want to paint a piece prior to coming to Ladies Night for anyone new or those who may need more time. You can stop by the shop any day to check things out as well to get a better idea of what you might want to paint.
