Opening Reception | Marjorie Williams-Smith: Memories in Metal

Fort Smith Regional Art Museum

Opening Reception
Marjorie Williams-Smith: Memories in Metal
Friday, December 6, 5-7 pm
Drinks and Light Refreshments Provided
Free – Donations appreciated from nonmembers
This exhibition is sponsored BHC Insurance and A-1 Tax Service

Join us Friday, December 6, from 5 – 7 pm, for the opening reception of ‘Memories in Metal’, a silverpoint exhibition by artist Marjorie Williams-Smith. Silverpoint is an especially challenging medium, but that is part of the allure, and Williams-Smith has been working with it since 1985. The effect of light on the silver lines creates a shimmering quality that is quite different from any other drawing technique. Williams-Smith uses this medium to capture and empathize the spiritual energy that exists within us all.

“The work progresses slowly as I concentrate on relationships between shapes, light, shadows and textures. Line is my primary tool, as it is hatched and cross-hatched to create the subject. The color of the page is also important that it provides contrast and space for the form to move and speak.” – Marjorie Williams-Smith

This exhibition reception is held in conjunction with our 'Abstract Perspectives' opening reception.
