Third Friday Art Walk: Opening & Reception for Brian Wolf “Strange Awakening”
Argenta LibrarThe Argenta Library Gallery invites art enthusiasts to experience Strange Awakening, the latest exhibition by North Little Rock artist and graphic designer Brian Wolf. Kicking off with a reception on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 5–8 PM, the event coincides with the Argenta Art District’s Third Friday Art Walk. This compelling exhibit will remain on view through Friday, January 10, 2025, with free admission during library hours, Monday through Friday, 9 AM–6 PM.
In Strange Awakening, Wolf delves into the emotional resonance of symbols and storytelling. His diverse body of work—spanning drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture—combines abstract landscapes with archaic and cartoon-inspired imagery. These pieces emerge from Wolf’s extensive journaling practice, which serves as both a source of inspiration and a tool for personal reflection and healing.
“Signs are not always meant to be seen; they can often be felt,” Wolf explains. “I aim to create a space where mystery and intention collide, encouraging viewers to uncover their own untold stories.”
A lifelong creative, Wolf’s artistic focus has continually evolved. A transformative trip to New Mexico in 2021 inspired him to weave elements of natural landscapes into his abstract work, resulting in two solo shows in 2022. Strange Awakening marks his latest phase of growth, reflecting the interplay of personal transformation and artistic discovery.
Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with Wolf’s thought-provoking art and uncover the deeper narratives hidden within.
For more details about the exhibition and other gallery programs, visit NLRlibrary.org or contact the Argenta Library at (501) 687-1061.y

Christmas is a time when loneliness and grief can become more pronounced. We think of those we love but see no longer, and of other losses as well – the loss of a job, a dream, or a relationship. What do we do with these sad places in our hearts during the joyful Christmas season?
This service, called Blue Christmas, will emphasize the pain and loss felt by many at this time of year, and offer a somber, gentle space to gather.
Join us for a small reception offered by all three churches at 5pm followed by a contemplative service at 5:30 pm led by Central Presbyterian Pastor Brian Brock and from First United Methodist Church the Rev. Lauren DeLano.
Central Presbyterian Church is located at 400 W Main Street in Russellville.
