It looks like the secret is out! AARP has recognized Russellville as one of their Great Places To Live in their 2024 edition. And, as your local realty experts, we couldn't agree more! Live Love Arkansas is proud to call this charming city our home.

Natural Beauty and Recreation

There’s a reason Arkansas is known as the “Natural State”. And right in the middle of all this natural beauty, you’ll find the city Russellville. The city boasts a picturesque landscape with Lake Dardanelle, a sprawling 34,000-acre reservoir, offering fantastic fishing and boating opportunities. The iconic Arkansas Highway 7, designated a National Forest Scenic Byway, winds through the town, providing residents with breathtaking views that have earned it a place among the most beautiful roads in America.

Agent Jessica Stowers appreciates the scenic beauty of highway 7 and the proximity of Hot Springs and Eureka Springs as some of her favorite things about Russellville.

Historic Downtown

Russellville's historic downtown is a treasure trove of grand brick storefronts, that hint at our city's rich railroading and agricultural heritage. Among favorite local events are the Friday Art Walks and live concerts held outdoors at The Depot. In 2012, the Center for the Arts opened. This striking glass-fronted building located on the Russellville High School campus has become a favorite venue to not only showcase our local talent, but also to host well-known entertainers in a more intimate setting.

Some of Agent Alisha Houston’s favorite things about Russellville are being in a rural setting but still feeling like you’re in a super small town. You’re within a good driving distance to multiple larger cities. It’s a small city but has just the right amount of things to do or close enough to places for more things to go.

Small Town Community Spirit

But one of our favorite things about Russellville is the strong sense of community — something you just don’t find in larger cities. A recent demonstration of this was how the community rallied together after the devastating fire that destroyed the Old South restaurant. Fund raisers were held to make sure the employees of the restaurant were taken care of in the sudden and unexpected lay off. (And we are very grateful Old South found a new home in the old Dixie Cafe location!)

Agent Jai Teas describes Russellville as "a perfect-sized town with friendly people" and highlights its accessibility to various activities like fishing, running, hiking, and dining.

Education and Cultural Offerings

We are also known as a “college town” and are very proud of Arkansas Tech University just north of downtown. ATU is one of Arkansas' largest institutions of higher learning and is ranked #35 in Top Public Schools across the United States. The university offers musical events, lectures, and art shows that add to our cultural tapestry.

Outdoor Activities and Spectacular Views

If you are looking for outdoor adventure, Russellville won’t disappoint you! Mount Nebo State Park, less than 10 miles south of the city, offers a fantastic outdoor experience. Cabins and features built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s dot the park, with over 14 miles of trails winding around the 1,350-foot summit. Sunset Point, located on the western edge of Mount Nebo, provides awe-inspiring views of the Arkansas River Valley and the Ozarks, especially during a stunning sunset.

Marketing DIrector Erin Berry says: We moved from Arkansas to Ohio for 5 years, and boy did that ever help me realize how much I love Arkanasas! I love the southern charm of the people. The slower pace of life and the beautiful changing seasons. Winter’s aren’t too bad with occasional snow. And summers get hot enough to swim! There is so much to love about our state. I also love that we have the freedom to have a raccoon as a pet! Something that is illegal in many states! In Arkansas you can have up to six from he wild with no permit required!
