What to Expect:
- Each painter receives one 12x16 blank canvas and 4 colors of paint.
- Protective gear such as goggles, disposable hooded ponchos, for the splatter room will be provided (one size fits most).
- We use washable non-toxic paint just in case some gets on you accidentally (or purposefully!)

Your work of art won't be completely dry for at least 24 hours, please plan on transporting a wet canvas.

One cannot appreciate 20th century art without understanding the significance and genius of Paul Cézanne.

About the Film:

Filmed at the National Portrait Gallery in London, with additional interviews from experts and curators from MoMA in New York, National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, and Musée d’Orsay in Paris, and correspondence from the artist himself, the film takes audiences to the places Cézanne lived and worked and sheds light on an artist who is perhaps one of the least known and yet most important of all the Impressionists.

ABC's of Arkansas Summer Mushrooms

This power point presentation and foraging fungi workshop will focus on techniques used to identify wild mushrooms. Our morning presentation will be followed by a lunch break (brown bag it) and an afternoon foray in the Ozark National Forest to observe and collect mushrooms/fungi in their natural habitat. Then we'll gather our finds, head back to Ozark Folkways for a hands on identification workshop followed by one of our ever popular tastings!

Jay Justice is a retired epidemiologist who formerly worked at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. He is a co-founder and scientific advisor for the Arkansas Mycological Society (1982) and a scientific advisor to the Cumberland Mycological Society as well as a chief mycologist for the Missouri Mycological Society.

As anyone who has attended one of Jay's workshops in the past knows, these informative and delicious events fill up quickly.

Participants are encouraged to wear seasonally appropriate clothing, bring a walking stick if needed, sun screen, insect repellent, drinking water and a paper sack for collecting mushrooms.

OH, I AM ON A MOUNTAIN!: A DRIPPING SPRINGS TRAIL HIKE

Mount Magazine State Park

Mount Magazine is quite a big mountain plateau with beautiful, wooded areas everywhere you look. While it’s great to immerse yourself in these ecologically rich trees, it can be easy to forget one is on Arkansas’ tallest mountain. A hike down Dripping Springs trail serves as one spectacular reminder of where you stand, on a breathtakingly scenic mountain. Seasonally appropriate attire, drinking water, sturdy hiking shoes, insect repellent, and sunscreen are all highly recommended for this easy, 2.5-mile hike. Caution- this hiking trail visit very high cliffs with no railing, so children and pets must be highly supervised by legal guardians at all times.
