Honoring Those Who Gave All

Memorial Day 2024

Memorial Day isn’t just a holiday, it’s a time to reflect on the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces. This federal holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, is a solemn occasion to honor those who have given their lives to protect our freedom and way of life.

At Live Love Arkansas, we are forever grateful to the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who have served our nation with honor and courage. Memorial Day is a powerful reminder of the debt we owe to these heroes and their families.

The History of Memorial Day

Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day originated after the Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in that conflict. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had become a day to honor all Americans who died while in military service.

One of the longest-standing traditions of Memorial Day is the laying of wreaths and placing of American flags on the graves of fallen soldiers. Parades, memorial services, and family gatherings are also common ways to observe this important day of remembrance.
